Free credit note and debit note maker
Goods came back, the price changed, or the bill had a mistake? Do not cancel the invoice: issue a credit note to reduce it, or a debit note to increase it, with the GST worked out and the original invoice quoted. No login, nothing sent to anyone.
How to make a credit note here
- Choose Credit note or Debit note. A credit note reduces what the customer owes; a debit note increases it. Each has its own number series: CN/26-27/001 and DN/26-27/001.
- Type your business details once. Name, address, state and GSTIN. Saved businesses appear as you type.
- Fill in the customer and the original invoice. Under "Issued to" type the customer who got the invoice (saved customers come up as suggestions). Then type the original invoice number and its date.
- Pick the reason. Goods returned, Price changed, Discount after sale, Short or damaged supply, Tax corrected, or Other. It prints on the note.
- Add only the difference. Enter the items, quantities and rates being returned, reduced or added, with their HSN and GST rate. CGST + SGST or IGST is worked out like on an invoice.
- Save, then Print / PDF or Share. Print the Original for recipient and Duplicate for supplier copies. Later set the status to Adjusted in account or Refunded.
What it does for you
- GST worked out for you: CGST + SGST, IGST or UTGST chosen from the two states, with a tax summary by HSN, just like the invoice.
- Two number series, CN/… for credit notes and DN/… for debit notes, restarting every financial year, with a warning when a number is used twice.
- The original invoice is quoted: number, date and reason print at the top, as GST rules ask.
- Copies: Original for recipient and Duplicate for supplier.
- Track every note: Issued, Adjusted in account or Refunded, in "Saved credit notes".
- In your language: 24 languages on screen; the printed note stays in English. A4 or A5 paper; Classic design free, Modern and Compact marked Package (free for now).

Questions people ask
Is this credit note maker free?
Yes. Making, saving, printing and sharing credit and debit notes is free, with no login and no limit. A small line at the bottom of the page says where it was made.
Who issues a credit note under GST?
The supplier, the one who issued the original tax invoice. A note from the buyer is not a GST credit note.
What is the difference between a credit note and a debit note?
A credit note reduces the amount and tax of an invoice (goods returned, price too high, short supply). A debit note increases it (price or tax too low, extra charges).
What is the time limit for issuing a GST credit note?
It must be shown in a return by 30 November after the end of the financial year of the original supply, or by the annual return date if that is earlier. Check with your accountant near the year-end.
Can one credit note cover several invoices?
GST rules allow one note for one or more invoices. This maker has one "Original invoice" box: type the main invoice there and list the others in Notes.
Do I need to quote the original invoice?
Yes. Type its number and date. They print at the top with the reason.
Should a credit note have its own number series?
Yes, separate from invoices. This maker uses CN/26-27/001 for credit notes and DN/26-27/001 for debit notes, restarting every financial year.
